Since then, he's ran many more 5Ks, 10Ks, Half Marathons, and 2 Full Marathons. He really finds enjoyment in running and that has brought him success, achieving multiple PRs the last couple years. He hopes to pass along the enjoyment and success he achieves in running to the pace group he's with any given day. He wants his runners to think positively. To embrace the race. If you think you can do it, you will do it!

Jessi C. - 0:38 pacer

Jessi started running in 8th grade and all throughout high school, unfortunately didn’t continue after though. After having kids though she had the urge to run some races and her first half marathon which was hospital hill! She achieved her goal time because of pacers and knew one day she also wanted to be a pacer. Few years later she did her second half marathon and her third with her brother. Helping her brother finish his first half was the best feeling to her! Then and there she KNEW she had to be a pacer! She is so excited to help others achieve their goals and make the race as fun as possible! She’ll be joking around and cheering you on!

0:40 SmartPace Teams

0:42 SmartPace Teams

Mindi F. - 0:42 pacer

Mindi started running as an adult for exercise but started adding some distance in 2013 with her first half marathon. Since then she has run several half marathons and 7 full marathons. She enjoys meeting running friends for early morning miles or taking her black lab out for some miles. She is married to a marathon runner and has two energetic boys who play sports. Her family motivates her to stay active. Pacing gives her an opportunity to give back to the running community where she’s found inspiration throughout the years.

0:44 SmartPace Teams

Sara A. - 0:44 pacer

Sara has mastered running and talking at the same time through her routine early morning runs with friends. She has run over 75 half marathons starting 22 years ago. Her most memorable race has been the Hood to Coast relay in Oregon. Sara enjoys the challenge of half marathons without the intense training of a full marathon. Her favorite races are those running with her daughter. Sara's tip today is to stick with the pacing splits for the first few miles, and then you can plow forward later to beat the pacer. It is always tempting to surge forward at the start of the race. Sara is looking forward to helping you reach your race goal and to enjoy the experience along the way.

0:46 SmartPace Teams

Bethany L. - 0:46 pacer

Bethany has been running since 2018. She decided to sign up for a 5k for a good cause, did some minor training, and completed it without walking. Considering she couldn't run a quarter mile before this small training, this was huge progress. This launched her into her distance running journey. If others could set big goals and run fun races, then so could she. Since then, Bethany has run numerous 5k, 10k, half marathons, random distance races along with her first full marathon back in November 2023. She has had wonderful family and friends along her journey that have encouraged her to be better, train smarter, and dream big. One of those dreams was becoming a pacer. She never imagined herself becoming a pacer but being the encourager and goal setter she is, this seemed like the perfect fit. She loved being able to jump in, cheer on, and help new friends meet their goals.

0:48 SmartPace Teams

She enjoyed the race experience so much that she completed her second half just 4 weeks later. Since starting, Kim has completed 71 half marathons and over 50 5K & 10K runs and is a member of Half Fanatics. Kim's goal is to run to have fun and enjoy the journey.

Amy K. - 0:52 pacer

Losing a parent at a young age from Heart Disease to fighting obesity I have found a love for running and triathlons. From barely able to walk down the hall without feeling out of breath to running half and full marathons and participating in triathlons I have gotten years of my life back. I enjoy supporting and empowering others along my journey. If you want to succeed make a plan, set a goal and put one foot in front of the other. Anything is possible.

0:54 SmartPace Teams

Mary G. - 0:54 pacer

Mary found a love for running with her local running club in Little Rock, AR. Before long she found herself not just enjoying a beer with them but running races with them. Mary has done some fun races like the nighttime Dam Run and a few mud run 5Ks. She really didn’t get into half marathons until she moved to Kansas in 2010. Motivated by a goal to lose baby weight and take her twins on a Disney adventure, Mary and her husband finished The Goofy Challenge at Disney in Florida in January 2016. Hooked on Challenges, they signed up for the Gauntlet Challenge and Coast to Coast Challenge that same November at Disney in California. They’ve signed up for the Heartland 39.3 Challenges pretty much every year after that. They also enjoyed the Sweet 16 Series in KC while it lasted. Mary has also recently tried out the Heartland 30K Series. After befriending another pacer and hearing how rewarding pacing is, Mary wanted to try it and help out others with their race.
